Driving Directions for Mt Stirling
Driving to Mt Stirling
Driving in your own car or a hire car is only a short 3 1/2 hour drive from Melbourne via the Hume Highway or Maroondah Highway. Mt Stirling takes the same general direction as if you are heading towards Mt Buller. Mansfield is the closest major town and what ever route you take to Mt Stirling you will pass through Mansfield following the signs towards Mt Buller.
From Mansfield you will travel along the Mt Buller Road for about 30km. Once you reach the base of Mt Buller (Mirimbah) you will be required to stop at the gate entry point and pay a fee to enter the Resort. Once through the gate entry point, turn left into Stirling Road and follow that along until reach the Telephone Box Junction (TBJ). Between Mirimbah and TBJ the distance is approx 8kms of sealed road.
During Winter, vehicles are not permitted to go any further than TBJ. All 2-wheel drives must carry chains when travelling to this point.
