Selwyn Snowfields is located an easy 2.5 hour drive from Canberra, 5.5 hour drive from Sydney and 6.5 hour drive from Melbourne. As there is no accommodation on the mountain, most people stay in the nearby townships of Adaminaby or Talbingo a short 30 to 40 minutes drive from the slopes.
It is a requirement that all vehicles except 4WDs carry chains during the winter months on the Snowy Mountains Highway. These can be hired from most service stations on your way to Selwyn Snowfields. You will be required to pay an entry fee for the National Park which is $27 per vehicle per day during winter. Alternatively you can purchase an annual pass for $190
