Seven thousand feet up in the Colorado Rockies, nestled quietly below one of the largest ski mountains in North America, sits a small ranching community that serves as a constant reminder that the Old West is alive and well. Never far from its ranching roots, Steamboat remains firmly linked to a Western tradition that sets it apart from every other ski resort in the world.
Located 258kms northwest of Denver and with 2,965 acres of permitted terrain, only on a mountain this big could there be such tremendous variety. Nationally rated cruiser runs, tree skiing, open glades, bumps, snowboard terrain parks, race courses & even kids-only terrain. Gladed areas with Champagne Powder are Steamboat's particular claim to fame. There are two main sections of Steamboat Springs, the downtown area and the mountain area. Steamboat has over 70 bars and restaurants. Free buses run frequently and link the mountain with downtown.
New for 2009
Steamboat has recently spent US$16+ million in on-mountain improvements including the new high-speed, detachable six-passenger chairlift, the Christie Peak Express, a comprehensive re-grade of the Headwall beginner slope, significant snowmaking improvements and more.
Transfer time from Denver is approximately 5 hours. Transfers can be added to your package. Alternatively fly into Hayden, just 35 kms from Steamboat.
